During the 13th tobacco trading week which ended on Thursday, July 5, 2018, tobacco throughput has been higher throughout this season compared to last season. 126.9 million kilograms of tobacco has been sold after 13 weeks of sales compared to 87.98 million kilograms sold during the same period last season. The volume of 126.9 million kilograms sold represents 86% of the projected volume of 147.8 million kilograms. Improved competition on the buying line resulted in further reduction of the no-sale rejection from 20% in week 12 to 17% in week 13. The dominance of low-value offerings in week 13 resulted in a 3% decrease of the weekly average price for all types of tobacco.
